I started this mix with the intent that it be another installment of "background music for being cool as shit", the first two volumes of which are made up of mostly chilled out funk & soul groovers, but then the tempo started creeping up, and I started adding in a few other genres, and before I knew it, it became its own thing (FWIW I still think you're cool as shit, tho). As a nod to the Archie Shepp song within, the cover photos are of brother George Jackson: Black revolutionary, Black Panther, and founder of the Black Guerrilla Family. He was killed during an attempted prison break in San Quentin in 1971. There is a famous list of the 99 books they found in his cell, which I recommend checking out.
